This summer many Russian universities saw a dramatic drop in their Webometrics ranking. Vladimir Moskovkin, a BelSU Professor of Geography, argues that it is connected with a change in the ranking methodology to which the university management were mostly unprepared. Russian universities should create Institutional Google Scholar Citation profiles (on the basis of the faculty Google Scholar Citation profiles), the scholar points out, in order to improve their position in the Webometrics ranking.
